5 Things to Consider Before Ordering Custom Printed T-Shirts

Custom printed t-shirts are one of the most popular promotional items. Here are key decisions that can make or break the final result.

1. Choose the Right Fabric

Cotton is comfortable and takes ink well for screen printing. Polyester works better for sublimation. Blends offer a middle ground. Consider your audience and how the shirts will be used.

2. Pick the Best Printing Method

Screen printing is ideal for bulk orders with limited colors. DTG handles complex, full-color designs on smaller runs. Each method has trade-offs in cost, durability, and detail.

3. Design for Print, Not Screen

Use high-resolution artwork (300 DPI minimum), vector files when possible, and keep in mind that colors may shift slightly between screens and prints.

4. Order Samples First

Before committing to a large run, order a sample to check color accuracy, print quality, fabric feel, and sizing. A small investment that saves costly mistakes.

5. Plan Ahead for Delivery

Standard turnaround is typically 5–7 business days, with rush options available. Build in a buffer for events or launches.
